Hiking, Biking, & Snowshoeing

Mohonk Preserve (5 mi)

The Mohonk Preserve is over 8,000 acres, with over 70 miles of carriage roads and 40 miles of trails for hiking, cycling, trail running, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and horseback riding. It is also a major destination for rock climbers, with more than 1,000 climbing routes.

Minnewaska State Park (10 mi)

Wallkill Valley Rail Trail (4 mi)

The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is a 22+ mile rail trail that winds through the towns of Gardiner, New Paltz, Rosendale, and Ulster to the Kingston city line. Activities include walking, jogging, bike riding, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. The Rail Trail is open from dawn to dusk, year-round. It's so close and where we regularly go running. You can join in Gardiner with parking on the left as you come into Gardiner, opposite Pasquale's.

Shawangunk Grasslands (3 mi)

Swimming Holes

Split Rock (9 mi)

Wonderful, small swimming hole. Swim up to a small waterfall and lounge around on the rocks nearby to catch some rays. Take Clove Road off Rt 44/55 for 1 mile to the parking area on the left. It is part of Mohonk Preserve and therefore there is a day fee due. Coxing Kill, Mohonk Preserve

Lake Minneswaska (12 mi)

Minnewaska State Park maintains two swimming areas, one on Lake Minnewaska, and one on Lake Awosting.
